A return home of sorts for one of the candidates running for the Federal Liberal leadership.
David Bertschi is a University of Windsor Law graduate and made a campaign style stop to speak with students at the school yesterday. Bertschi was asked about his approach to the race with Justin Trudeau viewed as the front-runner.
“I’ve always been an underdog and that perhaps motivates me,” says Bertschi. “But I also know my country, Canada, has always been great, it’s always allowed people to reach their potential. This is the first time, first generation, that this government is not helping the next generation reach their potential. And I’m driven more by that frankly than by my own personal goals and aspirations.”
Bertschi is five weeks into a cross-country tour that started in Vancouver. A total of nine candidates are running in the race with a new leader to be elected in two-months time.
